hello lovely people on the web! my name is ria and this is the first time i join a forum proper! i'm bilingual (english and spanish are OK!), an artist and a writer, a passionate fan of music, in the process of learning japanese, and i've been chipping away at a neocities site!

ahh, the good old shi vs. tsu conundrum. it's tedious to learn those katakana characters when they're so similar! the trick i used to retain it is that シ (shi) looks like motion lines on a falling object ("haha, SHE fell"), and ツ (tsu) is just a straight little smiley face. also the existence of the small tsu makes it a little easier to recognize, especially when reading lots of japanese song titles that use the katakana alphabet!

thank you for your wishes of success! one of my favorite words in japanese is the word for milk: ぎゅうにゅう(gyuunyuu). it's such a cute word, and so fun to pronounce! i also love japanese words that are visual compound words, to a certain degree, like "harinezumi", the word for hedgehog, being hari (needle) + nezumi (rat/mouse)!
