okay, i think i've lurked enough! it's high time i introduce myself.

i'm
honeybread, i'm a young millennial and i'm excited to be a more active member of the "slow internet" (as ironic as that sounds... or, reads...)
i joined neocities about a year ago and have since been slowly peeling away from the centralized internet and into corners like this one, that feel more comfortable for me. my coding skills are still very rudimentary — i learned the basics back in 2009 when i started using tumblr, but that knowledge lay dormant until recently. but! i do really love it! and here's why:
- my favorite thing is the amount of imagination it invites. limitations breed creativity and that never feels more true than when you're toying with css! i typically doodle what i want something to look like and then try to figure out how to reverse engineer it o3o
- in that vein, i love the personal challenges to grow and improve. i know all coders steal but it's been a fun challenge to look at something and say "let's see if we can mimic it" without looking at the source :3c
- i'm also a graphic designer by trade and getting to design things entirely to my specifications is intimidating and thrilling. like, finally, i get to decide the colors! ... but there's SO many colors! >w<
finally, i'm glad that blogs and forums and the like all welcome long-form content. i don't think anyone would describe me as short-winded...
my other hobbies include: video games, crochet, writing music, writing fiction, skincare, cooking and baking, reading and dating (and yes, i have to call that a hobby, because otherwise it feels like a job).
re: writing music — i'm a classically trained musician and love performing in opera, oratorio and recital. however, i also write pop music and would love to publish an ep some time this year! it's hard to learn every skill needed especially when i've spent so many years just honing the vocal aspect, but, one must follow their heart, slowly but surely!
i listen to various genres, including midwest emo, 70s hits and kpop. i also love listening to podcasts and watching documentaries! my favorites are sports podcasts (including the athletic nba show and the bill simmons podcast, and five to four, a podcast about how the supreme court sucks) and documentaries about daily medieval life.
that's all she wrote... for now! if you'd like to find me other places, you can follow my
neocities, my
status.cafe, or my
tumblr. looking forward to talking with you all here :~)
