Hi everyone
Just introducing myself whilst I find my way around... name's Darren and I'm a 40-something Gen-X from the UK, looking to make a small corner of the internet my own, in a completely old-school personal internet way!
I was there when it all started and remember it well - I was one of those people who never got quite around to having a proper homepage or learning HTML and had a permanent "Under Construction" page
and watched the sad demise of proper internet communities, first of all in IRC and UseNet and then later in forums like these - so refreshing to see a properly active forum of like minded people
I've now just started learning HTML/CSS properly so no doubt I'll be asking you all lots of daft questions in due course.
Other hobbies include gaming (mostly tabletop (love Battletech and RPGs!), but also a little video gaming), electronics (badly - I'm a beginner), Python (even more badly - again, beginner), astronomy, hackspace/makerspace activities, amateur radio, flying remote controlled aircraft, bonsai, reading, photography, and hiking/being outdoors - always happy to chat about any of these!
