The first console I remember playing was a NES, but we didn't have it for long. The first I spent much time with was the SNES. I have fond memories of playing Super Mario World with my dad, despite being utterly dreadful at it. Instead, I would play the one level I could get a bunch of lives at in the first world and then send the extra lives to my dad who carried us through the rest of the game. I must've been around 4 or 5 at the time. I also got to experience my first RPG on the SNES through Super Mario RPG.

We didn't stick with Nintendo though. We had a Sega Dreamcast for awhile until eventually moving to Playstation, which is what I used most of my middle school and teen years where I played a lot of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, DDR and Guitar Hero, until the Nintendo Wii came out. I'm glad to have experienced such an evolution in games as I grew up myself.

the first consoles that i owned were my nintendo 64 and game boy color, but growing up i played on a snes and windows pc too. later childhood, i ended up acquiring a game boy advance, playstation portable, playstation 2, wii, playstation 3, nintendo ds, and nintendo 3ds.

i've never owned or played on an xbox console. i would like to try the original and the 360 someday if i can though.

nintendo 64 was my absolute favorite; i have fond memories watching and learning how to play ocarina of time with my family. i also had a few of the mario games which were easier for me to play, but i was really attached to zelda :). i used to rent out the cartridges too from the local video rental place. the ones ones i know i ended up renting were pokemon snap and a sesame street game called elmo's letter adventure.

but i also played a lot of pc games whenever i could use a computer. my favorite was, surprise surprise, another sesame street game called elmo's reading: preschool and kindergarten. it had two games: elmo's reading basics and elmo through the looking glass (my favorite of the two). and when i got older, definitely the first two sims games! there was even a *nsync cell phone game and barbie magic genie game i had, but i don't really remember the game play just the cool devices that you plugged into the pc and played the games with. i also liked pinball on windows xp and solitaire.

browser games were also something i enjoyed heavily like the games on the disney, barbie, cartoon network, and nickelodeon sites. :pc:

nintendo and pc defined my early childhood and playstation my middle school and up years. very grateful that i was able to play as many games as i did then and that i still own the majority of those (although i wish i played more of the pokemon games besides yellow and soulsilver! i didn't fully get into the games until omega ruby)

The first console i actually played on was the original Playstation. My first handheld was a dark blue Gameboy Advance SP.

My dad won the Playstation with a trivia quiz about the formula 1. I remember playing the Crash Bandicoot demo on the psx demo disc. The other demo's where also stunning, especially the whale demo.
But eventually we traded the playstation 1 for my uncles playstation 2 (slim). Which is still in my posession today.
I also played Kingdom Hearts on the ps2 back in 2010, when i got hooked by a amv.

About the gameboy advance sp. I actually saved up for that. I initially got: Super Mario Advance (the super mario world port for the gba), Monsters Inc.
I later got Swords of the mana, but didnt play that too much. The gba saw a lot of use, until i got my nintendo DS. I sold off the gba to my sister.

First console(s) I had played at home were the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. I kind of wanted a N64 as a kid, but have since swapped over more to the Saturn a bit. Still kind of want both since emulation (can I say that here?) is still a bit inaccurate. N64 is more progressed than Saturn's but still... Then we had the Dreamcast and Sony Playstation 1 + 2. Like the Saturn, Dreamcast Emulation is a bit mixed and I rather have the VMU stuff on hand so I kind of want to get enough nerve to try and see if I can get ours up and running again so I can see about having some DC games to play a bit. Although both SA 1 + 2 disks we own are problematic in their own way: 1 reads only when it wants to and 2 doesn't want to load the Chao World portion nor Hidden Base. No Hero Story ending for me I suppose.  :trash:
PS2 was when I played some of Kingdom Hearts and more Sonic with the Mega Collection. Played Sonic 3 for the first time and the level select code without the option to swap carts is a pain... I ended up playing Sonic 3&K more and just debug mode my way to the end. I eventually figured out the barrel in Carnival Night and was able to beat it legit years later.

For the handhelds, my first was actually the original Dot-Matrix Gameboy! I remember playing some Pokemon Yellow before and after school since I lived right across from my elementary school. Then got the GBA and played a bit of Sonic Advance as well as Egg Mania - which I regret selling at the moment because while it had its issues, it was a fun and interesting puzzle game for the handheld. Didn't get my next handheld until at least after graduation from high school with the old 3DS that I used to main a bit until the battery charge became borked - read: battery was replaced but it still refused to read the charge normally. So I was given a New 2DS XL for Christmas and to this day is still my main driver for DS and 3DS games.
