Here I am gushing about my first Xbox. I loved the clunky design and boot up screen. I remember it being modded when I got it so I was able to emulate Nintendo games on it too. I didn't really understand emulation or "ROMS" when I was a kid so I didn't really use it.

The game I played the most on it was Panzer Dragoon Orta (I still play this game a LOT), and TONSSS of DDR. I was so obsessed with DDR and wore down the crinkly dance pad.

I think I also had a Playstation? Don't remember which one but the only game I would play on it was Twisted Metal Black.

My first actual console was the Wii, still have the same one actually. I think the first thing I played on there was NSMB, which is funny because my first game ever was NSMB on the DS. I ended up modding the Wii like a year ago, which I'm extremely happy with! :)

My first gaming console was the GameCube, though I did play Halo 3 on my dad's Xbox 360. My favorite games on GameCube were Super Smash Bros Melee, and Metroid Prime. My first Mario game was on GBA though, Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World. I didn't play a Sonic game until I played Sonic Colors when I was 6, where I played my GBA and GameCube since I was 2.

i later got a wii u in dec 2015 and a switch in may 2017

ps. the wii u is underrated and overhated. yea fight me for that opinion :D

mine was the original xbox, my dad only ever bought xbox consoles. i recently set up my old xbox and i'm realizing how weird of a childhood console it is... it has such a strange selection of games, and not too many hits to speak of compared to the playstation or the gamecube! i wish they kept Blinx as a mascot, the Blinx games are so cute. master chief seems more fitting for the xbox's identity though...

ps. the wii u is underrated and overhated. yea fight me for that opinion :D
i like the wii u too! it was a really fun console design with not enough solid, original games to back it up. i feel like it would have gotten many more good games if it had sold better. i loved my time with Splatoon.

For me, my childhood consoles went as follows:

SNES: THE first console I played with. Did a lot of Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World. Kind of regret not asking for more games for this thing, especially given how vast the game selection was! (Gonna try to finally rectify it...)

N64: Probably my favorite console of my childhood, heh, and one I had the most games for, I argue. Favorite game there was Paper Mario. I recall when I first played it, I wasn't used to having an analog stick to move your character, and across three dimensions! (And I encountered the opposite situation where you have to use the D-Pad to navigate menus in Pokemon Stadium)

GBA: Right up there with the N64 for favorite console, heh. Not sure what my favorite game on it was, admittedly. So many good picks!

Sega Genesis: I recall my father found a classified ad for it, so we picked it up. While the game selection there is vast, sadly, I didn't play much of it. (I think I remember a few of the titles?)

GameCube: Game selection I had was surprisingly limited (just Zelda Collector's Edition and Mario Sunshine), especially because a couple of years after I got it, I got...

Wii: Yep. Also limited, surprisingly. Just Wii Sports, Wii Play, and the two Mario Galaxy games!

DS: At this point, I was approaching my teenager years, so I might cut it off at this point. (After that, I got a 3DS in my teen years, but that was my last console I got so far...)

I may have a bit of a bias for 90s era and early 2000s era gaming, heh. Besides these, I recall playing the PS1 quite a bit at my relative's place a few times, and unfortunately passed up the chance to get a Saturn from a garage sale as a kid...

I started out with SNES! It was given to me from my cousins after they no longer used it. I had Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. DKC Is definitely my favorite game! I didn't have many, but my neighbor also had a SNES and had a bigger collection of games so I often played there.

After the SNES, I played the PS2 for a bit, but I don't remember as many games for it. I still gravitated towards my SNES more even when I had my PS2.

First console I played was the SNES- it was moreso my parents' console that I happened to start playing games on once I was old enough to start playing video games. My big fave was Mega Man X, but I played a lot of titles on it, of which I mostly liked. Others I played a lot were Super Mario World/All-Stars, SMRPG, and the Power Rangers SNES game. I was like 5-7 so I played mostly platformers and and action games with little reading.

The first consoles that were mine specifically were the GameCube and DS lite. At this point this was like, the late 2000s to very early 2010s so the GameCube in particular was considered last-gen by the time I got it. I consider Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mega Man Anniversary Collection to be the two* big GC games that really shaped and defined my tastes then. MM:AC was really just a game compilation of the first 8 classic Mega Man games + 2 arcade games but it was a great introduction to the greater Mega Man series and solidified my love of the series. Melee was great for me because I was a total loner (still am) and this game still had a lot of stuff for the single player to do. Lot of single player modes and unlockables to slowly grab over time. Melee introduced me to many games and series (namely Earthbound and Fire Emblem, which are series I'm really big on now). Alongside Mega Man, Melee helped define my preference for platformers with flexible mobility and combat, but you know I've still yet to find a single-player platformer that feels like Smash does. Maybe one day...

Besides Pokemon and New Super Mario Bros. my DS library was mostly junk LOL. Still a good console tho, Phineas and Ferb for DS might legitimately be a good game but I haven't played it since my age was in the single digits sooo who knows

Mainly the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360

I have very fond memories of Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 and playing Call of Duty: World At War in co-op with my cousin, the original zombies mode in that game was awesome as was the campaign

Also I don't know if it counts because it's more of a handheld but I spent quite a bit of time on the Nintendo 3DS, especially games like Pokemon: Heart Gold and New Super Mario Brothers 2

Sadly the only survivor I have from my childhood is the Xbox 360 as my Wii broke down and my 3DS got lost when we moved, but those memories will be with me forever

I played the hell out of my gamecube growing up. granted it was well into the wii era but there was so much that it had to offer. fighting matches against my brother in super smash bros. melee, running through stages in sonic adventure 2: battle, etc. it fostered my love for 2000s-era 3D platformers which hasn't really been looked at a lot? maybe I should get on that when my skills get good enough (and I figure out how to stay motivated long enough for that to happen) haha.

I'm still finding new stuff for it all these years later! that thing is a pint sized powerhouse. I just wish it wasn't stupid expensive to get games for, thanks collectors :(

Cheers, I had to buy a new Wii because my family threw ours out for some reason. I still have it, but the usb where all my roms were stored is corrupted..

literally i learned how to play super mario 64 before i learned how to read... i am part of the #GamingGeneration... #Gaming is in my #Blood...
though my "childhood console" was definitely the gamecube.
when i was young i used to spend hours playing games like they were virtual dollhouses, i'd hook up multiple controllers and play out scenes in super smash bros melee or make up narratives in my head while running around the map on loz twilight princess. strangely enough despite playing a lot of the sims on pc around the same time i never really did that with that game... i guess it was because my sister had the game on her computer and i was only allowed to play it once or twice a week so i didnt really have an obsession with it in particular.
i still do this with a lot of rpg games i like though so i guess i just really like playing dolls.
