The first console I remember playing was a NES, but we didn't have it for long. The first I spent much time with was the SNES. I have fond memories of playing Super Mario World with my dad, despite being utterly dreadful at it. Instead, I would play the one level I could get a bunch of lives at in the first world and then send the extra lives to my dad who carried us through the rest of the game. I must've been around 4 or 5 at the time. I also got to experience my first RPG on the SNES through Super Mario RPG.
We didn't stick with Nintendo though. We had a Sega Dreamcast for awhile until eventually moving to Playstation, which is what I used most of my middle school and teen years where I played a lot of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, DDR and Guitar Hero, until the Nintendo Wii came out. I'm glad to have experienced such an evolution in games as I grew up myself.
