Hi new friends !!  :eyes:  My name is Ellie, I'm a trans girl from Australia who has long been interested in retro technology/design and the old web. I was super excited to find the MelonLand forums as it looks like exactly my kind of community.

Some things about me:

-I have a collection of VHS tapes that is rapidly outgrowing the one bookcase I store them in.
-I have a Neocities site at https://jautism.neocities.org/
-I have 3 CRT TVs dated from the early 1980s through 1990s that I've hooked up to Chromecasts so that I can stream on them. The smallest has an 11cm screen !
-The main program I use to listen to music is Winamp, and I mainly listen to Leonard Cohen, Cats Corp, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and the Sims 2 soundtrack.
-I use Seamonkey as my main browser.
-I sometimes pester my friends to download Escargot so we can talk on Windows Live Messenger.
-My favourite computer game is Heroes of Might & Magic III. I still play it regularly and it holds up extremely well. Second is probably Civilisation III.
-I never had a console growing up but I recently got a Wii with Wii Fit and I'm enjoying it a lot.
-I have a bunch of retro kitchen gadgets and utensils from the 1970s through 1990s. I've found they last and work way better than anything you can buy for a similar price today.

That's all I can think of at the moment ! Looking forward to being a part of this community :ozwomp:

Hi Ellie, welcome to the forum  :ozwomp:

I like your site a lot, I'm always a fan of layout-less designs   Seamonkey as a main browser is a serious and impressive commitment, do you use a particular theme?! I also spotted your desktop in the desktops thread and oomg that's such a perfect 90s bit of retro-modern aaahhh.

What's the most unusual 70s kitchen accessory you have that you would recommend to everyone?

Hope you enjoy the forum!

Thank you for the warm welcome !!  :ozwomp:

I'm so glad you like my site, it's a really fun way to have a centralised place for all my interests and links while tapping into the visual nostalgia of the old web

I've just recently started using Seamonkey from having used Firefox (which I still do for some things that don't work on Seamonkey) and I'm really liking it so far, its such a nostalgic interface and has a much lighter footprint than most other browsers. I'm just using the default theme, here's a screenshot of what it looks like:

It definitely goes well with my desktop, it really feels like surfing the web back then with the old browser, the mostly web revival sites I visit, and the CRT monitor.

This is probably my most unusual 70s kitchen item ! It's a electric combination can opener and knife sharpener. It's actually a great accessibility tool as well as just being funky, because I have trouble using a regular can opener.  :cheesy:

I'm sure I'll enjoy the forum greatly !  :eyes:

Hey friend !! Lovely to meet you  :unite:

I do have several CRTs, I find nothing can really recreate that old school experience the same way  :chef:

Fellow Seamonkey users unite !!  :cheesy:
