Oh, hold on, I haven't participated in this thread yet? A travesty. When I was in middle school, my whole class (well, I exaggerate, mostly boys, but still) was obsessed with this mobile game called Gravity Defied. It's basically this very simplistic game where you're driving on a bike controlling its speed and balance, trying to complete all the different levels and not wipe out. There's multiple difficulty levels and for completing each one you get a more powerful bike (and suddenly having more horsepower entirely screws with your balance strategy lol).

Now, the thing that made it infinitely replayable was the existence of a free level creator. The amount of versions and mods out there was outstanding. And some of them were downright unbeatable, because, like, there weren't any limits or guidelines, you just drew those lines however you wanted and the only way to check if that obstacle was even passable was to launch the game on your phone and try to beat it a 100 times or so.

I distinctly remember making my own version, too. Proud to say that it was, in fact, beatable, as tested by me and my classmates whom I passed the file to. Not proud to say that, if I remember correctly, the color scheme was eye-bleeding-bright, as is the custom when you're a creative teenager in the 00s. Sad to add that there's no way to recover that file now. A pity, I'd like to see it. Betcha the level names were also highly inappropriate ('cause that's cool, right)!

The reason I can confidently say that this game is my favorite mobile game is that, well, I still play it. The thing about Gravity Defied is, touch screens kind of killed it. I know there are games with similar premise today, and they are played on smartphones well enough, but I was way too used to playing it on buttons. Good old physical phone keyboard. Never managed to make the switch.

At some point I did manage to find an Android version of the most classic build that someone ported WITH the emulated buttons. The creativity of everyone in the community making their own builds is lost, however.

That being said, I did get myself a fully functioning replica of Sony Ericsson W810i a while back. And the first thing I did upon getting it to work was to install the original GF. Thinking about making my own build again, just for fun - the level creator is still available online all these years later!

I've been obsessed with Grim Quest and Grim Tides, two games by the developer Monomyth. They are simple old school style rpgs with a lot of charm.
Another one of my faves is Final Earth 2, by the developer Florian Van Strien. You build and manage space colonies, it starts off simple but grows in complexity as you progress.

I used to spend SO much time playing The Blockheads (by Majic Jungle studios). Man, all those online servers were a blast. I also spent a LOT of time on the forums, it's a big part of my teenhood XD. That's where I came to love forums. I joined in august of 2013, when I was technically not old enough to be there(13), oops! But I was only a few months away anyway. I tried to look at it again when writing this comment, and sadly the forum doesn't seem to be reachable. It's expected, but still sad to have so much of the posts from my youth no longer available. Oh well, at least I can look at it some through the internet archive :')

The game is a sandbox explorer/build-type game, and no longer receiving updates. Still my favourite mobile game after all this time:')

Mine's Honkai Impact 3rd.
yoo another honkai enjoyer! I haven't played recently but i've been playing for a long time. I play it on pc though, so it doesn't really count as a mobile game for me :ha:

i like to have a puzzle game and a regular old mobile game on my phone. Currently, i have Flow as my puzzle game and i play animal crossing pocket camp as my "regular" game

Mine would be Swordigo, an amazing little Metroidvania game that no one practically talks about nowadays (surprisingly active speedrunning community, as per usual  :ok: ). I don't really play on my phone these days (or in general for that matter)

My go-to mobiles all tend to be the classic types. Solitaire, sudoku, minesweeper at one point (stopped on mobile because I found switching between removing tiles and flagging tiles annoying on a touch screen. Much prefer a left and right click.)

The only mobile game I play semi-regularly other than games like those is True Skate, where you ride and flip around a skateboard in a skatepark (or various parks if you wanna pay into the microtransaction machine. :ohdear:)

Solitaire and Sudoku are the two I play every single day though. I'm playing them more than I ever have recently due to bouts of random anxiety that only sudoku and solitaire can pull my mind away from.

OldSchool Runescape is a great mobile game! The mobile versions of their clients are really well-made, I love sitting on my phone chopping trees while I watch something lol.

I also really like playing indie games that got ported to mobile, like Peglin or Slay The Spire. Vampire Survivors is on mobile and it's also a really good game.

I like mobile games to a normal degree, they are nice to have when you are waiting for the bus, or on the bus, or not on a bus at all!

My favorite mobile game is probably Good Pizza, Great Pizza! It a really cute pizza game where you do thing like take vague orders from customers, beat the rival pizza restaurant and try to get on the good side of a pizza cult (?) Lovely art and sound design, and the stories and events are very interesting, while still keeping to the simple process of making pizza

I also like Tsuki's Odyssey, a quaint "check in every day" type game in a small town populated by animals. You can talk to the townies, buy furniture to decorate your house and surroundings, fish, farm and such. The game also has great humour, very funny dialogues and descriptions. It's what I imagine Animal Crossing is like.

A more "mindless mindfulness" game is I Love Hue, where you sort small squares of color until they make a consistent gradient. Pretty calming!

in like, theory, it's my singing monsters. i like the monster designs and the songs are fun! however i don't care for the gameplay so i mainly just look at videos of other people's complete collections. in terms of actually playing, love live school idol festival was my favorite, along with show by rock. both have been discontinued but i played them so much growing up

I'll always play anything by the mobile developer Yiotro! They always have nonsense names, use simple mechanics, don't require a big time commitment, and are ad-free even though lots of the games are also just overall free for the user. The one that's held me the most is the free game Antiyoy, which is sort of like a pared down game of Risk on a hex grid with lots of different maps. It's also getting a release on Steam, which is set to release next month!

It's lightweight, simple, quick fun, like the Flash games of old  :loved:

My favorite mobile game has gotta be Oh Sir: The Insult Simulator, and its sequel The Hollywood Roast. The whole premise is that you and another player take turns picking from a list of given words, along with 2 pairs of 2 extra words only you can use, and you use them all to form some crazy stupid insult. And you can even extend your turn so you can make your roast as long as possible. It has cameos from H. P. Lovecraft, Lo Wang, The Postal Dude, Serious Sam, which makes it super funny when you have them using their exclusive roasts against one another, and also its so amazing to get a super long insult thats like "your mother is not migratory and will disembowel a hamster and wanted to be your hovercraft and worked with your sister and your cousins car wanted to be your house and still uses windows vista and doesnt even own a color telly and had a steaming romp with homeless mans socks, and everybody knows that!" and it gives you 90 hit points taking the other guy out in 1 hit.
The hollywood roast is pretty similar, it has the same mechanics, but it allows you to use the word "but" instead of just "and", and it has a comeback meter which you can unlock more character specific comebacks for in the campaign mode, and it also tallies up your score on the side too. The hollywood roast was supposed to have jacksepticeye as a special character too, but i dunno if its actually in the game because I havent seen the jacksepticeye character at all.
anyways these games are so fun and you should totally give them a try. super fun with friends and the insults are funny.

(・∀・)イイネ!! I also play Progressbar95, which recreates old Windows and Mac OS X versions, and you have to fill the progressbar, but make sure you dodge the red ones, Close the pop ups and Clippy! You also can take care of Bin and get points from the Dog!
