I just found out about this from the july melonland newsletter and it's very exciting!! (I've been pretty offline lately, so it's new news to me  )

I'm not a very attentive tamanotchi parent & wasn't aware the site was at risk of closing, but this story is a lot sweeter after reading the announcement from May

we cannot ignore that the internet has since changed drastically. As usage of traditional forum websites continues to shrink, and with many of these sites no longer even existing, it has been very difficult for tamaNOTchi to keep up with the times.

The internet is healing, usage of traditional forum websites continues to grow, new sites are coming into existence, Tamanotchi does not need to keep up with the times.. you know what I mean.

Melon saved 7000 innocent pixel lives, what a king. Now if only I can remember to feed mine.

I can actually update this with some vaguely interesting stats after a few months!

When I received it the site had around 5300 notchis and now has 7000 so its gained 1500ish in 3 months! To put that in perspective the site started in 2014 as far as I know.. so 25% of its entire population has happend in 3% of its life!

I suppose in a large part thats because it was really struggling on the old host and its simply far more usable now with a faster server and a few updates. Also, most of that traffic is from SpaceHey people (I thought the SpaceHey fad would die down but apparently not!)

The numbers are really big though; this forum has pretty high traffic compared to most of my sites; but Tama traffic is 10x bigger than this forum! None of this is an issue, the server has plenty of resources, but its surprising!

All that is to say; as far as love for notchis on the web goes; this is a golden age!

Wow, that's fascinating. I had no idea the site was growing that quickly!  And tbh I think the site being more usable now is a huge factor, I made my account a couple months before the revival and absolutely nothing would load while I was logged in. I imagine a lot of people who wanted to use the site just couldn't at the time.

I unfortunately have a tiny bug to report: the "Candy Dip" customization item seems to display over the "Dapper Tie", in some cases almost entirely covering it  (as of writing you can see an example of this with my female Antmin in my signature)

I'm absolutely IN LOVE with those little critters ! I sort of wish there was a bit of infos or a dedicated site/NeoCities about them with infos and stuff. I'd like to see more species too, PixMaos are my favorites ! The clicks are fine, I don't want a real tamagotchi system where you have to clean after them, shut down the light etc etc. The system is fine as it is now ! Can't wait to get mine out of their screens

A very small update today! Pets created after May 2023 will now display a "Born" stat that says how old your pet is!

What a cute update! It's kind of interesting getting to see the concrete timeframes for how long it took me to raise each one to 5k clicks

I see that a lot of older pets are like, full size / not inside the actual "egg" - is this a choice or will they always grow out of it? I love the lil "eggs" so I would love to actually keep it in there hehe

Once TamaNOTchi hit a certain amount of clicks (around 830) they will hatch out of the devices! That's how they grow :)
