Hi everyone

I am a 45 years old french guy. I've been an interactive fiction author since 2007, although my first game was only uploaded in 2015. My itch.io account is there :

https://stephanef.itch.io/

I had a blog here since 2005 but I closed it recently : https://l-idiot-mystique.blogspot.com/

... which doesn't mean that I won't blog anymore. I'll just do things differently from now on, but I need time to figure what and how exactly.

I made a website about a ski resort that I particularly love, with a lot of family photos from the early 80's to now :

https://vts.neocities.org/

There's also that website that I created in 2005 but re-uploaded recently :

https://chemindecroix.neocities.org/ (in french only, sorry)

Generally speaking I'm each day a little more fed up with social media and the blandness of mainstream internet, and longing to go back to the "good old days" where people were creators and now only "content" watchers / forwarders. And where you could actually meet new people and make new friends - the era of social media is also, in reality, an era of loneliness and impossibility to actually make new friends.

Hello, hello! *throws magic dust everywhere*

I grew up in the '90s/2000s, so I'm not new to the small web, and I definitely prefer it to the rat race that social media has exacerbated. On the flip side, and this might be an unpopular sentiment, I'm not an HTML enthusiast and like a tiny bit of minimalism. My Neocities site is a balance between clean and cozy. I admire other sites that are more chaotic and creative, though.

I write my own fairy tales and make little doodles for them. I've been writing since a teen and was convinced that publishing was every serious writer's goal, no thanks to online writing culture that treats novels as the be-all and end-all of literature. Needless to say, I finally discarded that mindset and am content maintaining my small corner of digital space. I don't need to be on shelves in order to contribute my art and insight. I don't care about appealing to the masses that wouldn't agree with some of my messages, anyway. Plus, I value my freedom and HATE the idea of having to dedicate myself almost entirely to one thing. Making a career out of what is essentially a hobby for me would've been a nightmare!

Hello all,

Just now got my account approved. And by just now I mean 12 hours ago. I currently have very little knowledge about HTML. My neocities site right now is just hosting a blinkie that I made to use on my profile for this forum.

I decided to try all this out, whatever this is, to make some real connections with people on the internet and to have fun.

I really enjoy movies. I chose watching movies as a hobby as it highest ceiling for me to be pretentious and annoying while expending the least amount of effort. I also play chess.

Hello everyone!! I just had my account approved a couple of minutes ago while I was lurking around avoiding working on Inktober hehe. My name is Flower and I'm a mature student at uni studying illustration. I loveeee all kinds of visual art, whether its digital or traditional or somewhere in-between! I'm hoping to work as an editorial illustrator once I've graduated but who knows as the world of art is vast and there's so much I want to do.

I wrote my dissertation last year on the early web and the Web Revival and I hadn't thought to actually make an account on here until now  :drat: It was a super fun project and I'm glad I did it, and maybe once I'm done I might do an MA and go into webcraft stuff in more depth! But for now I have to get a move on with Inktober which I'm procrastinating because using ink and working in black and white is hard for me

Hey there! My name is Natalie, and I got my account approved just a little while ago! Like so many others, I've lurked the forums for a bit before deciding to register for my own account. Happy to join you all here!

I'm a writer, and have been for as long as I can remember. Though most of my writing is fiction, non-fiction is something I enjoy and would like to get better at creating as well. I also really like reading and programming!

It's hard to say what my favorite HTML tag is, though a look at my code makes me think that it could be <section>. Also a pretty big fan of <p>, evidently. I'll have to think about this further.

👋 Hi, I'm Dan Q! (he/him, but no title)

I'm a Web veteran: I made my first website before Flash... before JavaScript... before CSS... and honestly, things were better then. But I believe we can bring it back. I'm here to be among like-minded souls.

I'm a huge blogger: my blog has been running continuously since 1998. Sometimes it's good. Not often, but sometimes. Sometimes the medium is the art: for example, I have posts that can only be easily found via RSS!

I work as a programmer but that's probably the least-interesting thing about me. When I'm not doing that I like to perform magic, do GPS sports (a little geocaching, a little more geohashing), help make the Internet fun and weird (again), and I do a ton of volunteering. Like, a silly amount.

Oh, and I live in the South of England, UK, as a European In Exile. But here's a fun fact: to get to where I was born you need to keep going North well past where it feels like civilisation ends, and then keep going up past Loch Ness to a little stone cottage in the middle of nowhere. Talk about off-the-grid! And yet nowadays I feel lost if my fibre Internet connection goes down; how things change.

I think I got a little confused and posted in the archived greetings board, so I shall introduce myself here as well!

Hello, MelonLand! I'm Bree or ArtGuts, your friendly neighborhood art critter! I am bad at talking about myself, but I am 33, married, and use they / them or she / her pronouns. I spawned into existence back in the 90s and the government has not yet figured out how to stop me. I am AFAB, but never really identified as female, or even as a person, but more of a cartoon character trapped in the real world.

I've been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil, and browsing the internet and online communities since I was probably way too young to be on a computer and greatly miss the communities of the old web, which is what attracted me to this site in the first place. I hope to make friends here, or at the very least enjoy a community of like-minded creaives who just want to make the net a more fun and colorful place  :transport:

Here's some other sites where you can find my work! Thanks for stopping by! <3

Hello everybody!! My name is Cheska, and I was born in the early 2000s and spent most of my childhood in virtual spaces (such as Club Penguin) or forums that were already on the decline around the time my generation came along. If you knew me during my teenage years, you'd know the main thing I did was share my poetry online (RIP Commaful), now, I'm more content with writing short stories that may or may not make any sense.

It feels like I've dabbled a bit in everything creatively--from game development, to roleplay, to UTAU covers, and website creation--but I've always had a problem with sticking to one thing, so my knowledge in all these things is surface level.

It's a bit embarrassing that I don't have awesomesauce to show compared to the other posters here, but my goal right now is to make something polished I can truly be proud of. So, it's nice to meet you! I hope we're able to talk soon!

Hi everyone, I'm PaintedPixels (he/him)! I was born in the 80s and still love playing video games from that era, particularly NES games. I like making pixel art, and I've done a few small games and posted them on my Itch.io page.

My website is a bit of a mess right now, as long ago it was a blog on Squarespace, then I moved it to Wordpress, and recently I moved it to be a static site and make it a bit more oldschool. So a lot of the older pics are broken and I'm still working on making a front page for it, but it's paintedpixels.xyz if you want to check that out.

Looking forward to hanging out here. Like most of you, I feel the web needs to go back to being smaller, independent sites, and this forum definitely has that feel to it!

I'm Hika—Social Media burnout and maybe eventually Social Media drop-out. I draw stuff to feel human.

Neopets, Sailor Moon Fansites, and custom Tumblr themes made me a web designer and front-end web developer and now I use those skills for my own sanity, I guess.

Hi everyone! I'm Marziponder, I have been tracking the small/indie/revival whatever you wanna call it web for about 2 years now but only started building my own site  about five months ago. I've been working on it in isolation because I didn't want to start socializing until I had a place of my own to share. Overkill I suppose but *shrug*.

Normally I don't like to start off describing myself with my career but in the context of this site I think it makes sense. I'm a professional web developer - I've had a lot of fun letting loose on my personal site and throwing a lot of practices out the window in the name of creativity and rejecting perfectionism. I am always trying to learn stuff, and I guess like many people here I am interested in game development, so I've taught myself music composition and 3D modeling. I also LOVE to talk about these things and help people out with them. So if anyone reading this would like advice or assistance on any of these things just ask! Disclaimer: I am also super busy so I may not always respond quickly :ohdear:

My site has a decent amount of stuff on it where you can better get a sense of who I am, I think. One of my recent "creations" was cobbling together this awesome border image from Sonic CD's Stardust Speedway sprites. If you're a fan of that game check out my resources page and you can download it along with the css to make it display nicely! Just calling this out in particular because I'm very proud of it at the moment.

My site also has a little blog with only 3 posts so far, and one of them is not what I'd call "vibing" (the first one). It's a pretty authentic/unfiltered bunch of thoughts, but I like to think that makes them worth reading. As much as I love talking about the various things I'm interested in, what I love even more is seeing other people's writing and thoughts, especially creative writing, and especially especially being able to comment on it or discuss it :transport:

In fact, I so much like to discuss these things, that I often feel a pang of longing when I see a great site on Neocities or the Warp Zone but there's not much of a way to interact (yes, I know neocities has the comments on that site proper, I still need to sign up for that actually...but I mean like per-blog-post comments). On my own site I run a phpbb forum with a whopping 2 members including myself with open-to-the-public comments on topics for my own blog posts. I am not sure if I'll keep that forum up as it's a little costly, but it is also really cool and convenient. I'm not really sure what to use it for, but I had the idea that there could be a section there for people to post THEIR blogs and have other people comment on those too. But I'm not really trying too hard to do anything with that right now.

Anyways, I've been admiring this community and many of y'alls' sites for years now, so I'm very excited to be part of it actively and contribute wherever I can! :unite:

Howdy! Call me Ishmael, or Volt if you prefer (they/it).

I'm an artist (of the drawing variety) who first got into webcrafting back in 2023 (initially inspired by Cohost CSS crimes), but I just recently joined this forum because I've been itching to interact more with people lately.

Other interests of mine are video games and birds.

My website (found here) is currently hosted on Neocities, and is mostly used to host my art (and OC info, eventually. Whenever my brain lets me write their info down  :drat:).
