Hi! I'm Ron/Gretchen/Rongret, I'm 27. I'm genderfluid (he/ze/xe/she) and aroace. And I'm hoping to work on my html/css programming skills here. With social media going down the tubes, I decided it was time to make my own website. So I've been slogging thru relearning coding. I have had brief brushes with html/css, but I never really committed most of it to memory, and it was mostly simple lines of code on codeacademy or somewhere similar. So I'm excited to see what I can learn here!

i'm bonkachino! (she/her) the name comes from a nickname i got in high school that got a few more variations on it developed by my friends... this being one of them!

unfortunately, the awful peak of the university semester has just hit here in australia, so i haven't had much time to get creative... the main thing i'm doing right now to stay sane is picking up digital art again (giving my OCs a bit of TLC) and also learning how to upcycle my clothes, starting with paint and stencil work. i've also been doing some worldbuilding on a dedicated wiki here and there, time and energy permitting - writing legal essays makes you not really wanna write much else afterwards lol. oh well. whatever.

the above prolly means i also wont get around to doing up my room and siggy for a little while. praying i don't forget to later

Hello, everyone!

I am An Old (lol). Built my first site on Geocities back in 1998, kept tinkering with websites well into the early 2000s, and then took a long break after university and work got in the way. TBH, social media was also a big problem for me, too -- it sapped away most of my free time and made me less inclined to work on creative stuff.

I quit almost all social media earlier this year, and have slowly been getting back into web design and blogging. It's like getting back up on a horse, except the horse no longer positions everything with <td> and <tr>

Looking forward to interacting with you all and seeing some cool new sites! It makes me SO happy that so many younger people are making the kind of websites we made during the days of the early web. You guys give me so much hope for the future of the internet.

Hii! I'm Ari! I never know how to introduce myself but here we go... My interests involve:

• web design and website creation; I have a site hosted on neocities! (shocking)
• cooking
• drawing (but need to practice more)
• engaging with any and almost all types of art, be it cinema, animation, videogames, visual arts in general, music, literature, comics, etc (yeah, long list)
• being a little more specific: I'm really interested in horror movies, alt rock + eletronic music and queer culture

I've always been a lurker of forums (this one in particular I've been lurking since early 2024!) so this is the first time I'm actually participating in one Also, english isn't my native language, so I'm little bit nervous about it, but it's probably just insecurity from lack of practice.

hello melonland!

my name is freyr but you can call me fairyrune, or any abbreviation of that - it is a name i took from my final fantasy 11 character! i recently started getting back into coding after a long stint away (i last made something over a decade ago...). this is the first time i have had a true site of my own; i host on neocities currently and am still in the process of revamping my index page...

while i do that, though, i would love to hang out with likeminded people. 

i am:

• an artist
• an enjoyer of music
• a huge final fantasy fan (can't wait to make a shrine!)
• a crafter, primarily crochet and cosplay
• reconnecting with nature, in all the ways i can

perhaps that last part is a bit at odds with a forum existence. but i think that the internet can really help us understand the outside world.

Hi everyone,

I'm a totalnoob. Even though I'm quite old and have been using the web for a long time, I've never hung out in any web forums. In the past (tm), I used to frequent various IRC channels, but that was quite a while ago.
I don't even know how I came across this great site/forum, but somehow it ended up in my bookmarks and yesterday I stumbled across it again. I've basically banned social media sites from my life completely, and yesterday I deleted the Mastodon app from my smartphone. I can no longer bear the flood of information, but I am, or hopefully was, addicted to it.
That's why I'm looking for small but nice distractions that should be asynchronous above all else. It's enough for me to come here once or twice a week and enjoy the great content. That's how I do it with my feed reader now. 
My goal is to be able to do without my smartphone altogether in the near future. As I said, I'm old enough to remember the good old family PC  . It was there waiting for you, but when you shut it down, the session was over. No constant notifications or being online all the time. That's where I want to be again. For my peace of mind, but also to be a good role model for my family. Long story short: I'm happy to be here and thank you for still having such great places online.

I'm an artist working mostly with New Media and Performance. You can see my work here. Some of my more recent work can be categorized as web or net art, including websites as artwork and performances using video-chat.

I've been looking into the culture and history of internet art and have found it to be a bit elusive as a community, eg. there is a Subreddit for InternetArt, but it hasn't had any posts in seven years (maybe internet art enthusiasts are too cool to use such a mainstream site with a questionable comment-reply structure) I'm happy to have stumbled upon this site thanks to a Rhizome newsletter and I really like the colorful, pseudo-retro layout.

I sympathize with this sentiment a lot, as I'm sure many do here who enjoy the retro-aspects of this forum. (It's also neat that it's closed once a week- kind of like the stock exchange! xD ) I've been working on a community-driven internet-art hub project and am considering what aspects of modern website design are appropriate and which I can do without in favor of simpler, stream-lined, or more retro techniques. For instance, notification icons popping up in the corner of your screen is kind of annoying, right? I appreciate that this forum doesn't have that, but rather a discreet display for messages and the equally discreet links "Unread topics" and "Unread replies".

Hello! We're Waap. (it/its or plural they/them pronouns, full stop is stylish but optional)

We are hoping to meet new people and make new things. We're not much good at websites but it's something we've been slowly working on. We tend to jump around between hobbies, though, especially right now. We're very slowly recovering from a two-handed RSI or something of the sort and if we do the same thing too much it makes our hands hurt so we have to keep changing things up and taking big breaks. We can't be too mad about that though, because is has directly lead to us getting Godot and starting to learn GDScript, which we've been wanting to do for a long time.

We have a Neocities that we were using as a sandbox to re-learn basic HTML and CSS stuff so it's all ugly filler assets and stuff, but we're hoping to make it into something better with time. It probably won't be a good website any time soon because we're now enamoured with Godot, but hopefully one day. You can look at our mess  here  if you're curious! Be warned though, it does contain harsh swear words. I forgot about that until right now, whoops. it also isn't mobile-friendly my brother keeps complaining to me about that

ive had a website for a few years that you can see here : https://therift.vip/ (contains flashing images) i really like being able to do whatever i want on it, like organising pages and topics exactly how i want, decorating how i want, working on it at my own pace,... also really enjoy seeing the creativity other people can have

i dont think i have a favourite html tag but ive never really delved into the advanced ones i mostly stick to the basics
