What do you think about... an extremely messed up version of Pokemon Yellow

How about a completely normal Pokemon Yellow game, except that the encounter mechanic has been jacked to spawn anything, especially glitched pokemons that crash your game. Also some other variables have been changed to cause unexpected problems, think of something like a built-in corruptor, something Vinny Vinesauce likes to play around with. I also considered adding the 8F item, the professor Oak battle and the Buried Alive into the rom hack.

I had this idea as far back as 2023 just because I find the glitches in old pokemon games to be very interesting. Pokemon Yellow is especially infamous for its "female symbol" glitch mon and there are at least a dozen creepypastas based on the game with Pikachu turning sad or evil.

I mean have you ever seen this? Nightmare fuel!

Note that Missingno is relatively tame in the OGs compared to this variant. It's all red and the "music", let's not even mention it.

Unfortunately that has never been made because I just don't know how to make rom hacks whatsoever, but I had some interest in making them and learn how to make them, what tools rom hackers use.

This idea was rekindled by this fangame which broadly follows a bit the same theme where the whole world is being attacked by glitch monsters that reshape it, except it's on the wrong game engine, and it's way too much narrative-driven for my taste. Instead of Pokemon Yellow, It's been made in Pokemon FireRed (possibly due to constraints because like I said this rom hack is exceedingly complex for its own good).

I feel like now that this romhack has been made, my idea might get called a rip-off, despite the idea being more of a kaizo/horror hack that will make the player absolutely paranoid because well you will most likely get softlocked on one of these things or their save file will get nuked at a moment's notice.

Pokemon gold, silver and crystal are similarly interesting because they too have oddities like glitch cities of their own (that are surprisingly more stable). If this project ever gets completed, I might make a sequel using Crystal as a base.
