This is weird! I know the emote system uses RegEx (It was also not designed to use discord-style emote codes as we do now), so it's totally possible it could be misreading some character groupings as emotes! Are you able to give me some easy-to-replicate examples?
It seems to be wherever a quotation mark " and parenthesis ) follow one another, even when there aren't any spaces before or after them. For example, it shows up in the second paragraph of my post The Small Web As A Safe Space For Sharing Experiences: I am sure that many people here gravitate towards MelonLand and similar forums for that reason. Of course, there will always be the issues of safety and privacy anywhere on the Internet (including on the "small web" , but a lot of the pretense is absent here. That winking emoji wasn't there when I previewed and posted the original. It only shows up as text on my end after the fact too, literally... Same is true on mobile. As another example, it appeared near the end of my post in Art troubles: When these simple shapes become easy to draw, learn how to make tones of various shades within their borders. One way of doing this is by steadily moving your forearm back and forth like a windshield wiper, making a series of parallel lines that are somewhat evenly spaced from one another (i.e.: "hatching" . Change the pressure and density of the lines to make those tones lighter or darker. For example, try to mimic the squares of the grayscale: ...Perhaps it is just my idiosyncratic usage of punctuation catching up with me. [That emoji was intentional.]
