the gifypet bbcode is doing something strange to the forum layout
Thanks for the report! Looks like it's actually an issue with very long code blocks on Chrome browsers instead of the new tag!

Note to self; test things in chrome browsers instead of just Firefox! And look into long code issues!

I wouldn't call it a bug per se, but it seems that the juxtaposition of certain punctuation marks is automatically processed as an emoji when it doesn't apply. For example, I have noticed
Code
:wink:
show up in several of my posts when a parenthesis and a quotation mark? were adjacent to one another.

This is weird! I know the emote system uses RegEx (It was also not designed to use discord-style emote codes as we do now), so it's totally possible it could be misreading some character groupings as emotes! Are you able to give me some easy-to-replicate examples?

It seems to be wherever a quotation mark " and parenthesis ) follow one another, even when there aren't any spaces before or after them.

For example, it shows up in the second paragraph of my post The Small Web As A Safe Space For Sharing Experiences:

Quote
I am sure that many people here gravitate towards MelonLand and similar forums for that reason. Of course, there will always be the issues of safety and privacy anywhere on the Internet (including on the "small web":wink:, but a lot of the pretense is absent here.

That winking emoji wasn't there when I previewed and posted the original. It only shows up as text on my end after the fact too, literally...

Code
:wink:

Same is true on mobile.

As another example, it appeared near the end of my post in Art troubles:

Quote
When these simple shapes become easy to draw, learn how to make tones of various shades within their borders. One way of doing this is by steadily moving your forearm back and forth like a windshield wiper, making a series of parallel lines that are somewhat evenly spaced from one another (i.e.: "hatching":wink:. Change the pressure and density of the lines to make those tones lighter or darker. For example, try to mimic the squares of the grayscale:

...Perhaps it is just my idiosyncratic usage of punctuation catching up with me. :grin: [That emoji was intentional.]

Ohhhh I know what this is! It's leftover mistakes from when we switched over to the new emote system. Old emotes were like :) or ::( etc - When we switched over to things like ;happy: a script was run that automatically converted old :) style emotes to the new system. The script went wrong in a few places and converted things that it should not have converted.

Sadly there's not much I can do about it now other than to edit them out manually if I happen to see them (people are welcome to edit their own too) - but the good news is that it won't happen again, since the new emotes are much less ambiguous :grin:

I've this weird bug happening since I started to get my first notifications here.
I hope this hasn't been covered before, I couldn't find anything related to it.
(apologize if it is somewhere, pls link me to it)

Whenever I restart my laptop or return from standby mode and open my browser (Vivaldi) I get the exact same push notification over and over and over again. Nothing new is in my notifications on here, those are just the old notifications I already checked last time. Is there anything that can be done about that? I want to receive push notifications but not 10 times when I already checked them.

I didn't even know push notifications worked :omg: I think I have them blocked on my computer! I have forwarded this issue to the developer of the Alerts mod; however Im not sure it will be fixed quickly, prob the best solution is to disable push notifs for the forum and request email alerts on topics that are really important for you :ohdear:

Hi I think I have a bug. :D

I was just writing in the "What game are you playing" thread and I noticed that the letter "k" was invisible while writing my post in the editor there (I had to change "sucker" to "lover" because of it :grin:). It seems to work here now but it might happen again or affects only specific threads and devices, maybe, and could maybe happen to other letters?

I am viewing the forum on a Win10 laptop, hardened Firefox, latest version.
Sorry if it's not super reproducable, but at least there is mention of it in case it happens again :ha:

This is super weird?? You mean you typed kat? and it showed up as at? Are you sure your keyboard works? :grin: I don't think there's any reason why a letter would vanish.. unless the forum has become sentient and has opinions on the letters it likes :ohdear:

Yes exactly :ok:  there was just an empty invisible space. I started spamming k in the editor and it would just add spaces. It worked fine everywhere else and even on other threads :grin:  it was crazy.

I think there is a bug at the "Recent Posts" page. If someone writes something in Italics font, the font of the posts below it don't go back to normal and stay as Italics too.
In the attachments, have a look at Post #73, where Italics were used. Posts #74, #75 and #76 are also displayed in Italics.

The Swatch clock is 40 beats ahead. I found that the forum had a Swatch clock, before I realized it was ahead of both my laptop and my phone's Swatch clocks! Unless I'm behind, the clock should be 40 beats behind where it already is! I've used this forum on two different laptops, and it appears they both have the same problem.

Thanks for the report! Fixed! The forums clock was based on the time in Zurich, but apparently, they must have switched to UTC+2 for the summer because their time changed by an hour. Iv updated the PHP code to be based on a fixed UTC+1 time instead! :happy:

i noticed that when i was editing the theming of my profile, if i wrote anything with > in it, it would turn into ">" and the css rule wouldn't register. so, for example, if i wrote:
Code
  #admin_content td>div {
    border: 2px solid #2C221F !important;
    border-radius: 5px;
  }
it would turn into:
Code
  #admin_content td>div {
    border: 2px solid #2C221F !important;
    border-radius: 5px;
  }
and the code for that specific rule wouldn't work. is it possible to fix this?
