i grew up on the web, especially on forums. i love forums. i miss forums. i recently started working on my own neocities site as a way to express myself, share my art, and learn more css&html! i'm an artist but recently have been slacking on the making art part of that. i just started my first year of uni, my major is games art & design!

HAIIIIII im axol!!! i've been a HUGE fan of indie web and web revival for a while now, and the melonland project was one of the MANY websites that got me invested in indie web all the way back in 2021! (crazy how thats been 5 years ago, huh?)

  ANYWAYS MORE ABOUT ME:
im a queer otherkin lightskinned mixed-black furry from california whos a huge fan of tropical aesthetics/environments, the ocean, furries, and worldbuilding! im also autistic but if you hang out with me litterally at all you can probably tell that lol.

oh!! im writing a story called fish moon! its about these magical furries that take the form of what their soul desires called demi-min who live on a magical tropical archipelago thats always nighttime called Noxturnia! It's silly, It's sincere, It occasionally dips into horror, and it has a lot of themes and allegories about identity and other stuff!! also its gay. like, really really gay. its also a WIP webcomic that you can read on comicfury!

Hello, everyone. My name's CJ, I'm a musician, writer, and average he/him dude from Northeastern Pennsyania, straight cis male, married, childless by choice, and in a house surrounded by records, CDs, cassettes, books, guitars, synthesizers, and plushies.

Rediscovering the "indie web" brings me back to the days of Geocities, WBS, etc. (damn, I feel old!). My indie website is here: https://cjmarsicano.neocities.org. I'm trying to convince my wife to make one, but she doesn't think anyone would care.

I prefer Macs for my computing (my office has a 2022 iMac for my recording and writing, and now coding) needs, but I'm doing this first post from an upcycled 2017 MacBook Air that was my late mother's on which I installed Unbunto Studio since it could no longer be updated to the most current MacOS and I wanted to try a Linux distro anyway. I hate Windows and have to deal with that garbage OS at my day job enough as it is. If someone handed me a brand new Windows 11 computer I'd be throwing a Linux distro on it super fucking fast.

Hello, I'm fsr (she/her) and I found the forum because someone on Neocities linked to it. I'm a fan of the sort of thing Neocities is For (I used to be a $upporter) but I wouldn't say I'm active there. I'm not extremely partial to one host or another, but I'm glad there are more than one and I like retro stuff. I mean my operating system was once worked on by Ken Thompson himself. In an earlier iteration.

For "websites" I lean towards older and retro protocols and markup, I'm also fond of wikis and vanilla JS and css ARE still my favourite way to create a gui, but other than that (I do still occasionally implement things that have a gui) I try not to work with HTML anymore. Which isn't to say I never do.

I prefer pixels, but I wouldn't call myself a pixel artist. I don't know if I would call myself a graphic designer either. Mostly I'm a hobbyist and coder. I do still enjoy working with code.

I'm pretty shy about my work (given many years of experience with forums) but I will try to share some things, when I figure out the best things to share.

Above all, I like things that are introductory and newbie-friendly. Which isn't to say that none of my projects are sophisticated, but most of them have goals (or features) that might be familiar to an 80s coder. It took many years for me to get around to learning JS at all.

hi,  im [static]! they/them, im pretty new to forums (one of my friends has one that i check like the newspaper everyday and i enjoy it so i wanted to try this one too since i love melon's creations! (who even was i before gifypet and the save neocities tool?))

i LOVE books and like video games (mostly visual novels for me to play but i like to see other people play the ones im not good at!), puppetry/stop motion, zines (still pretty new but theres a small one on my itch!), movies/tv (which feels odd to say cause like...don't most of us? i feel like it'd be better to be like, i dont like it but then with the absence of it, im like.......would you *know* i like movies and tv?), writing (as you can see), and musicals (i like other music too).

i have a site and itll hopefully be more consistently updated when school stops being a buttchump. i missed out on the OG web days of creating your own site (not cause of age, just cause i dont even think i really knew how to get to internet past yahooligans and askjeeves lmao)  so im really glad to be able to try this time around!
