HeLlO fellow FoRuM MEMEbers,
Just kidding, Hi everyone! My name is CableCat or just Cat. I'm new on here, but I've been using neocities for quite a few months now.
I was, like, updating my Ultra Profile or whatever it's called on here but then I was auto-logged out and nothing saved lol. So I guess I'll tell some of my interests here to start!
I have fallen back in love with static HTML sites and the Old Web aesthetic, and I've also started to get into Zines and making them. I'm working on one now that is an ambitious project about the 90's and 2000's Wiccan/Pagan websites and online communities, since that is a part of history we are losing. Nothing says "Ancient Religion" like an Angelfire website haha. I also like to use GIMP and Calibre. I'm working on learning more about computers and such. I would eventually like to make the switch to using Linux. HTML has been my introduction to coding. I'd like to learn CSS and Python eventually, and I've starting to pick up some CSS from my copy/pasta adventures. But it's all just so abstract and presented in a boring way to learn.
I guess that's another thing about me that is good for an intro! My learning style is very peculiar. Like I used to suck at literature/english as a subject, and I only got good once I started doing college classes part-time when I was 14. I was in gifted and doing algebra when I was 10. It's like... to learn something effectively I need a big vision of the end product or a bigger challenge. I always do best with *projects*.
I also do quilting and mead-making and lots of different kinds of crafts. I know a decent amount about herbs and like to make teas and incense from scratch. As a child, I was an avid jewelry-maker. I like to listen to Florence and the Machine, 90's and 2000's pop and hits, and of course my "Sweet Pagan Bops" as my friend calls them (The Spiral Dance, Gypsy Ravish, Loreena McKennitt, Alexian, S.J. Tucker, Heather Dale, Inkubus Sukkubus, etc. etc.). My favorite daily medium for music is CDs, because you get that digital mp3 quality BUT you get the artists intended order of the songs and get to hear the story of the album. I grew up with my iPod on shuffle or bouncing between tracks, but CDs have shown me a different story behind the music I love.
And on the DL, professionally I have worked with lots of different cables. Video, audio, lighting, etc. I've literally patched analog phone cables. I'm not even that old lol. I'm in my 20's still. Beats me why the place still used dinosaur equipment! But yeah, that's why my name is *CABLE*Cat. But even then, I keep my "old web" stuff separate from everything else.
Anyway, I'll quit rambling. It's nice to meet you all! I'll probably lurk and check out the rest of the forum.
