Hello, dear friends! Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. My name is Klopnis, which is basically a (very) loose translation of a part of my IRL name into Proto-Indo-European. I've been enamoured with the Web Revival for over half a year now, but I've just started putting together my Neocities website, which you can find here! It's still very much a work in progress (you may notice it's essentially plain text), but the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.

Here's some other stuff I've done this week, to give you a snapshot of my life as it exists currently!
  • I attended the first lesson of a beginner's German course at my local library!
  • Having decided that I'm going to do a PhD in Philosophy, I've been emailing faculty at my old university to try and find a supervisor!
  • I bought Fallen by Evanescence on CD. It arrived about three hours ago and I've already listened to it twice through!
  • In terms of reading, I'm still plugging away at the omnibus edition of Von Bek by Michael Moorcock. I'm enjoying it so far—it's a multigenerational rollicking fantasy adventure through early modern Europe—but it's very violent, so it's not for the faint of heart!

I'm looking forward to getting to know the community here better during my stay. I subscribe to the forum on RSS, so that'll help me keep tabs on the goings-on here in Melon Land :-)

Thanks for reading, and feel free to ask me anything below!

Hi Klopnis, welcome to the forum  :4u:

It sounds like you're a bit of a dark ages fan? I've been watching a bunch of documentaries recently; apparently, everyone used to brew their own household beer and when your beer was ready you'd stick a big pole out your window and all your friends and neighbours would come and buy beer from you! BUT if you're beer tasted bad then you'd be tied up in the town center and people would pelt rotten vegetables at you and say your beer was no good  Those were tough times. Also sometimes the poles would fall out of the window and kill people, so they were replaced with pictures, like trees and the kings head, AND that's why so many oldy pubs today are called things like "The king head" its because that used to be their picture before people could read!

Oooph I guess that's a bit of a dark ages dump, I could go on, but I'll let you enjoy the forum now!

There's nothing better than a CD you love and nothing worse than one you don't like! (A bit like dark ages beer??)

Merry meet!
