It's had several companies own it who just didn't care about it enough to invest in its future.

i wasn't there from the beginning tho i do have fond memories of during the whole yahoo acquisition arc.  sadly that was also around the time when gamergate became a thing and we had all them annoying af 4ch raids

sure, some funny memes and stuff came out of it all, but it did little to curb the overall toxicity which we all remember very very well </3

oh yeah and couple of years ago when that communities feature was rolled out??  seemed like a good idea at the time, but it just became another back patting echo chamber for ppl to farm their emoji reacts

that's pretty much around the time i bailed tbh XDD

I'm really into movies, live shows, reading, programming, and miniatures. Right now I'm looking to get back into painting, and game development.

Welcome :3 I left a message in your guestbook but I really like your site! I dig your style a lot and your posters are very cool. I've tried GIMP before but could never get past the learning curve, I just do everything in Krita and Procreate now.

This forum is a little bit chaotic but that's also the point I think! I'm also relatively new but I really like it here. I've found that I have a lot less anxiety about reading "everything" because necroposting is so encouraged that there really isn't any sense of FOMO, so I don't feel rushed to read everything right away. It can be overwhelming but it moves slow so you have time to absorb it all

Thank you for putting me at ease with how forums work here. I am a slower moving person nowadays so that sounds right up my alley. I get easily overwhelmed by seeing a lot of rage bait content out there,product placements,and slop.

Hello, I'm John, 36 years old, husband and father, linguist, PC gamer, and amateur artist/musician/writer. : ) Last year I started a journey of nostalgia for the internet of my teenage years in the 2000s. I learned about the Web Revival Movement and here I am. : D

I have ADD and jump a lot between different projects. While historically I'm not very technically adept, this year my projects so far have included creating my own personal homepage on neocities.org, trying to learn python to write my own computer games, setting up my own forum as a continuation of the forum I hosted in my youth, and learning about DRM-free living.

My all-time favourite PC games are Siege of Avalon, Gothic, and Morrowind. Games I've come to enjoy more recently (over the last ~15–20 years) include Minecraft, Disco Elysium, and Hypnospace Outlaw.

Hello everyone, I'm Aster. I'm 35 and working on remaking how I engage with the internet all together. I was very addicted to my phone but over the past year, I've been working on curbing my usage and make it work for me. Much like how I used to use it at as a teen in the early 2000s.

I honestly always meant to be on the forums (considering how old my account is now!) but every time I remembered about the forums it was always on... A MONDAY LOL

Anyway I have a dreamwidth journal and I intent to post photos on it from my 1999 Olympus digital camera :) I'm a video editor but using old tech for my personal work brings me a lot of joy and mindfulness of the moment.
