I'm learning Twine (Sugarcube), so I can build a web page with it. I want to make an illegal web gallery, commit art theft. :transport:

I hate working with raw html/css. Its why i've built my blog in Wordpress, but WP is burdened with a lot of clunk and bloat. I want to work in Twine, because it is code I can corral, while it eliminates annoying aspects I find working in raw html/css. I think its extra fun that Twine is a game engine. Not quite like making a website in Flash, but a touch of the same spark.

Aside from my major project, I also have a Nekoweb that's still unfinished. I also have the Mother Goose Library, which is a wiki companion to said major project, but progress on that is very slow.

This is extremely fascinating, I've never seen someone use Twine for web design before and I'm extremely curious to see how it ends up! (And if you have any advice on how to style twine games lmk, it seemed nothing I put in the "stylesheet" panel worked :ohdear:)

I personally find working with raw code a lot easier, but that's just me. I remember a couple years ago I tried using the Carrd editor and got very easily intimidated lol. It just feels too "slippery".

I've been using The Twine Grimoire series, it's very helpful. The first one has a lot of information on CSS styling. https://gcbaccaris.itch.io/grimoire-one

I think mark-up languages are easier to use too, up until you want to build a website with more advanced functionality. But yeah a template is also annoying and feels like I have less control over it (because I do). everythings a compromise i guess

Still updating my webpages with terrible CSS I did last year and coming up with new posts, it's a bit time-consuming but I believe I'll manage it by the end. I'm doing one rework per week, I'm not giving up. I know I could set up a CSS page but it wouldn't be as fun since I change some part of it nearly every time I post something new.

I also considered replacing the favicon by the same one for every page but in the end it looks like a website where you buy something and it sort of lost the "amateur" vibe so I switched back to the previous favicons. I'm also thinking about the future pages I want to add, I'm not 100% sure about it but I believe in myself for finding something later.

Also struggling a lot with the fact that the site is doing nice as it is and for the first time of my life I haven't given up after 4 months. Now a part of my brain is mad at me because "You could have monetized this" "If you kept going for your previous blogs you could probably make a couple of bucks with it" etc etc. I know it's super stupid and it's really against my values but it's just there, complaining that I'm doing something nice for free when a lot of people are doing cool stuff for views and money, calling myself stupid for not doing so.

But I'm not giving up, I know those ideas will fade over time, it's just difficult mentally right now because I feel bad for dumb things. I do not want to make money or earn money, I'm doing this for free because I know that of I do something for money I'll end up doing anything to get a bit more, thus loosing myself in the process.

Also, seeing that a lot of Youtube comic-books videos are less and less about the content itself and more about "the cool factor" or unboxing/promo etc is a bit saddening to see. I believe in my own passion and I will do it for pleasure.

After the loss of Neorings earlier this month I have started a new project. I want to recreate the old Ringlink webring system.

The last version of Ringlink was version 3.4, written in 2017. I will be running it on the latest version of Strawberry Perl with the latest versions of the added Perl libraries and modules, especially the security ones, Ringlink will run with.

I installed the basic files this morning, until I get everything configured properly the links on the page go to the long gone Ringlink page or give a server error.

It might take a couple of days to configure with a bit longer to test. It might even have to be abandoned depending on how it goes. Whatever happens, it will keep me amused for a while.

ugh, what am i NOT working on? that's probably the better question because i always sigh myself up for more than i need to.  :tnt:

* just wrapped up my big musical commission of the year (scoring my friend's podcast pilot!) so now im back to working on solo stuff--a bedroom pop single, an instrumental collection, a couple collabs... i love it.
* also musically im gigging around and teaching myself new instruments (bass + keys) which is nice and gets me off a screen and in my body
* trying to get back into writing a novel again. alongside a play maybe... i spent most of this year working on theatre stuff tho so i might let that part of my brain breathe a bit. i've been having the most success with writing poetry as of late.
* my neocities, natch
* oh yeah i'm supposed to graduate at the end of this year so... school i guess... (<-- should be doing homework, is instead posting on a forum)

there're other things (just this month i learned how to use a sewing machine and also made an augmented reality instagram filter!!) but those're the big projects rn. overall i just kinda feel like this these days but mostly in a good way

My website is on a light hiatus because... I'm moving next month!!!! Into a house with my girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!

As for future planned features, I was thinking about a goth dressup game, probably once I'm all situated in my new house.

aaaah i'm not working on too much right now, just doing some light updating to my website's blog every now and then.

i also do junk journaling every weekend, which really helps me step away and just focus on doing something creative outside of the internet. almost all of my stuff is currently posted here!

i'd like to get started on learning html + css from scratch, but it's hard to find the motivation to dedicate time every day to it :tnt: brain power and attention span is smol.
