i finally got around to coding the barebones of my new page meant for sharing my poems. i want it to look like a pile of papers, with some pressed flowers and stationery. the scrollable  side bar will look like a list written on lined paper, tilted, thrown haphazardly on the desk. each link in it changes the text of the main div, corresponding to a poem. i basically have the main idea down, now i need to format the main div, draw/find additional graphics and make it all look pretty. i can't forget the 'click to scroll down/up/go back' buttons too.

Writing has become something of a miserable affair- my novel is on pause for the moment, though another one that I've been letting simmer on the back burner has grabbed relentless hold of me, so it's taken over as my main project focus for the time being. Will need to paint cover art and upload a blurb for it sometime soon on my website's projects page to make it official- though dedicating a notebook and customizing it with My Melody stickers goes quite a long way in regard to that.

I've added another entry onto my library page, The Enchanted- a novel I bought at a discount grocery store for just shy of five bucks on the sticker price, when it should've typically retailed for like, quadruple that: a book beautifully, but cleanly written, full of characters you loathed and liked in the same measure, where no one came out with clean hands: and a fallen priest falls in love with a death row investigator. I experimented with taking actual notes while reading- which slowed down progress, but made for a more satisfying writeup when I sat down at the computer again, so I may maintain this habit of jotting down thoughts and interesting quotes for future entries.

I've been playing a lot of Stardew Valley, which is one of my favourite de-stressing games/activities to engage with when I need to sort of zone out a little, toss on a good video essay or documentary, crank open Stardew, and hit up the mines. God, I love mining. I made a little Stardew Valley shrine for it on my website, similar to the Pokemon Soulsilver one I added recently. The images are a bit bulkier, due to their relative size, but compression and file type swapping helps. I might look into resizing them in the future, but for now it's not a super pressing concern. Fun to sort of journal about shenanigans in Stardew in the captions.

I am on track to get my comic-book section in order before the second anniversary of the website. There's a lot planned this year and I made a list of things I'd like to do and I will work towards this. I'm a bit irked by Protonmail's incident where they clearly supported a person I dislike and there was an official response from the account trying to mitigate the damage. It finally pushed me over the fence to move somewhere else.

I started removing my protonmail adress from the websites I'm registered and I'm moving most of it to my daily google mail where there's most of the stuff ending up while I'm setting up a new mail at Tutanota where I'm considering paying and make it my private e-mail. I worked a lot lately and I'm physically and mentally exhausted but I'm holding to things that make me happy and it works good so far.

This year will most likely be the busiest year for the website. So many things I want to do but I also do not want to rush it. I'm pretty satisfied with myself so far.

Working on my first site while following w3's html tutorial! It's pretty overwhelming, to be honest. I'm not sure why so many people spout that html is super easy to learn. It's easy if you're already pretty tech savvy. I had higher hopes for more people to move onto the "indie web" and make their own site but now, I'm a little discouraged. I think of myself as decently okay with computer stuff and I'm still getting overwhelmed lol.

Learning a lot, however  :4u:

Alongside my ongoing webcomic, I've started a small personal project for myself!
"Sludgeproject" :) It's going to be a little corner of my website that will let Any Readers explore around a fictional world through a tangled up web of hyperlinks. Mostly just because I find activities like Wikidiving to be quite entertaining! ^_^ I might make a thread on it later.

Next, I'll be going through this online textbook on JavaScript, since I'm pretty much entirely self-taught right now and want to fill in any knowledge gaps I might have.

Hooo boy, I've got a lot more ground to work off of from this textbook! I'm currently on the final exercise of the second to last chapter (where the last chapter is a final project), and I'm stretching out those requirements. The exercise itself is a little bit like the Everyone site, but with no login or multiplayer file editor or live Web infrastructure or time slider or... well several things I'm not gonna add to it, but I am gonna give it extra features, like file uploading and a self-updating directory tree in the UI. All the navigation & editing ought to be manageable by the UI somehow! I also caught wind of the <detail> & <summary> tags in HTML and may use those gratuitously to make it all work, however silly it makes the experience when I put folder within folder within folder within...  :ha:

For all the completely valid criticisms of putting JavaScript in the backend, having both sides speak the same language makes it a lot easier to understand what's going on in between. With what I know now (specifically about HTTP headers), I might be able to find a way to make the browser use text documents as images, which could turn into a cool new technique on the Everyone site  :omg:

EDIT: I completed the textbook and am now a JavaScript master  :ok:

Been making a second site which is a big collection(/kinda archive) of indie web graphics (mainly buttons/blinkies) :D!

With it being my second time around making a site (well a more personal one, ive made a few for friends :3) ive been trying to built it with accessibility in mind from the ground up (which i am gonna be thankful for in long run but making separate images for every gif takes so long with my current set up TwT)

made it cuz i see ppl with these huge collections of really cool little graphics and im like omg woah! but have no clue where they came from  :notgood: sooo ya :) not got much on there yet but i image ill build it up over the ages

I saw a video of the old Windows 95/98 aquarium screensaver and got inspired to reconstruct it in the browser! So I ripped the sprites/assets from a copy of Microsoft Plus! 95 For Kids and animated them using CSS to get my own very aquarium on my website. If you have javascript enabled, I also added the original sounds which you can toggle.

I spent an annoyingly long time making it work on mobile, but there's still some minor issues on mid-sized tablet-ish devices that I need to resolve with even more media queries (just one more media query...I swear...).

I'm building my personal website and trying to connect with other people.  I find most other forms of digital communication pretty unpleasant.  I'm not meeting many people so far but at least I'm enjoying the process more.

@sen.fish , cool job on the aquarium, so nostialgic!

So please come check me out at noxid-kin.neocities.org  :)

I've been working on adding more art to my little site. Yesterday, I finally found the rest of my collection of pixels from the distant past. I started making some stickers for the sticker book club, and I made a doll of my OC. <3 But I think I'll fill out my art gallery page a little more today, maybe write up more on my OC page.

I want to start blogging again, so I'm looking at some simple / quick blogging scripts.

I'm also contemplating starting some sort of joinable thing, like a clique or a webring, maybe both.

Working on my character world pages. I already drew two big scenes, which are the new banners and I now wanna illustrate more of the main and species lore page. Speaking of lore, I am also working on rewriting the lore and fixing a couple of details along the way. I hope it will be solid enough for me to like long-term. Redoing this stuff every few years is tedious. Well.. the downside of having an open-end OC world I guess.

I'm working on my first webfiction story! still trying to find my own style of storytelling/webdesign, so it's all very experimental and still very homestuckey lol. But things are going pretty great ig! I wrote 15 pages today!
It's called Liminalia! Can't say a lot about the plot yet, but I'm very proud of the format I'm testing on! I'm planning to make a more detailed post about it later, but basically, alike the general hypertext fiction format, where you get this crazy multilinearity thing, which is great but A) can result in a very confuse plot which isn't what I want for my stories and B) can become a REALLY HARD narrative to keep(with all the multiple links and side-plots), especially in a serialized format, I'm approaching it in a "fake non-linearity" way. You're still following a linear narrative, but with pieces of various points of the story, that seem to make sense in the context, but are actually keypoints of other side-narratives. Eventually, you get all the pieces together and the process is way more organic.
I guess. I just started yesterday lol.

@NoxidKin your site is lovely! adding it to my buttons page(reserved to the coolest websites B)) What kind of game you're working on? Got curious :0 lol I try to make games too but nothing exceptional. wish you the best of lucks! wanna be frends? :3 (hehe frends)

EDIT: @cake I'M READING RRR RIGHT NOW AND I'M IN LOVE WITH YOUR STYLE! The characters are charming, the colors are vibrant, and the whole uhh "webflow" if you get what I mean is so cool! i really liked the journal logs style of narration! looking foward for new updates!
added to the list of COOL INSPIRATIONS! :DDD also how did you do the bfos and funfetti jr. flashback panels? is it hand-drawn? if its digital PLEASE TELL ME HOW U CONJURED SUCH BEAUTIFUL LOOKING ART??
