I'd say drawing but I'm still not allowed to draw quite yet...(Just had surgery and am very limited in what I can do). So I'm just focusing on webdev/writing.

I'd say drawing but I'm still not allowed to draw quite yet...(Just had surgery and am very limited in what I can do). So I'm just focusing on webdev/writing. 

Right now, I'm working on personal library site so I can track what books I've read. It's my first PHP/SQL project.  Woo-hoo!

It basically works like this:

-I fill out a form with the information on it (title, author, rating, date entered, etc...)
-Submit the form to a database
-Database populates an HTML table <- I am here
-Work on making the table sortable/searchable (I'd like to be able to order the data by things like rating, as well as eventually have the ability to search the table, but that's probably gonna come a lot later)

I've been having a good time with it. I was having a bit of trouble before grasping all of these concepts but once I actually started working on this project, it's all making a lot more sense to me.

This sounds super cool! If you have any database/sorting/searching questions later on, let me know! I've done a bunch of that type of thing for my site before.

i'm working on some premade layouts! i'm gonna do two 90s-early aughts geocities styles, two mid to late aughts, and then i'm gonna do a tumblr 10s style... maybe i'll also do some neopets petpage styles. it's been fun to think about mimicking styles and try to focus on making the code legible and commented so somebody else could use it. not sure how successful i'm being, but it is at least good practice to make myself more organized! (i tend to just stick divs in my css wherever and then it's hard for me to find stuff lol)

It was a planned surgery on my occipital nerves since they were compressed and causing me a lot of issues, things are fine now, though, just recovering!

I finally finished, or at least got into a state I find sharable, my adaptation of a youtuber I like's roleplaying chess game. I've been working on it for the past few days just in Java and implemented the multiplayer last night. It's finally done! Now time to do the work I've put off...

I finally finished, or at least got into a state I find sharable, my adaptation of a youtuber I like's roleplaying chess game. I've been working on it for the past few days just in Java and implemented the multiplayer last night. It's finally done! Now time to do the work I've put off... 

I love like seeing intensely complex games, even if I can't play em myself. SS13, Dwarf Fortress, 5D Chess w/mv travel, etc. And dunking on Elon is a big plus too :D I can't run it rn, but from the screenshots it looks as goofy as I would hope.

Taking a break from my personal library project to begin working on a self-hosted site counter solution. :) I'm testing it locally at the moment but so far it looks to be pretty functional! :D I'd like to have it go live in the next couple of days.
I'm still trying to decide if I want the actual counter graphics on my homepage, or on something like my footer/navbar across the whole site.

A personal library site sounds pretty cool. I started working on something like that a few weeks ago in order to track to who I had been lending my books, but forgot about it. Are you going to add anything like page tracking or notes?

I'm not sure what all I'm going to add yet. I think I'd love to do a 'want to read' section with notes on why something piqued my interest. A tagging system would be cool too. I'm still just messing around with it at this point. 

I was able to finish my site counter system today, which was really fun.

I just uploaded my first thing to the Internet Archive. There's a mistake in the title and URL but the site isn't allowing me to make any changes. When I try to delete the file it gives me an error as well. Fun stuff...

The second thing I dont wanna upload on IA because of potential copyright risk. But I do wanna post it somewhere just so people know that an online copy exists. If I can't find any alternatives I'll just post it on YouTube I suppose.

I'm making a page about VHS tapes to go with my cassette tape page, though this one is probably going to be less focused around my collection and function a bit more as a shrine. it also serves as a gateway for me to talk about weird movies I like because boy howdy do I love weird freaky movies :P I'm going to theme it like a dying strip mall video rental store because I still vaguely remember when those were a thing. exciting!
