I registered there one year ago, but only now i think i found time to post something here.

From time to time, i am making art, sometimes music, sometimes i work on my website, if i found motivation to work on it.

Anyway, it look's like i have picked a very interesting time to socialize and it look's like it's MelonLand's 10th Anniversary!!!

I am OLD (30s), and I really like to make art and play video games! I'm relatively new to the retroweb space, but I adore the charm of it - I miss the feel of older sites like the original MySpace and DeviantART, where you could customize the heck out of everything and truly make your corner of the web yours.

I like to make OCs and put them in situations! Currently working on a big worldbuilding project called Tales from Chyria

I'm also quite new to coding, and slowly poking at a Neocities site. More on that when I can get it looking semi-presentable!

On my side of the screen I am a web developer, experienced enough to not be humble about it. For living I make... websites, I guess. Well, it used to be websites, nowadays they are web-apps.

In my free time I like to code. One day I hope to make something cool. Thing is, often things that inspire me are very different from what pays me money. Another thing is that I lack discipline and often motivation, I never finish things!

I found this website in a weird list of alternatives to deviantart on deviantart.

I love the idea of the "old web". I never thought of it as something special or quirky: the web itself IS quirky, and it is the normal web. Just everything else turned into something very... corporate. That said, I would love to involve in something creative, to inspire and/or get inspired.

My everyday link is wiby's "Surprise me" button, it sits right next to my address bar and whenever I'm bored I click it and surf away.

Heyo! I'm James just another refugee arriving here in Melonland for that sweet 90s/2000s web nostalgia. I was the founding Webmaster of a Knuckles the Echidna fansite (Emerald Guardian) 21 years ago so I'm quite familiar with the "old web" (I'm never going to get use to calling Web 2.0 that lol). I had to stop personally running it 5 years in due to home life and community college getting more intense. Then it kinda became this relic from my past that I would think about from time to time. Once 2020 hit and all this "web revival" stuff started hitting my socials, I wanted to do it all over again and found Neocities. I lurked for a few years and finally got to working on my current site this year.

I'm glad I did and found this forum along the way. Anyway, I've rambled on long enough! Thanks to anyone reading this and Thank You Melon for creating this cool forum.

 Names Juka, I recently parachuted down here from my spaceship! lol 

I was looking for things related to the 2000s and stumbled upon this site by coincidence, and waow, it's really cool here!

Since I'm a poser, I don't really know how to navigate these sites, so just picture a 102-year-old trying to create a social media account (even though I'm actually a teenager...ironic, lol).

And that’s basically why I’ve been looking for sites with this kind of theme, because it’s something people my age either don't know about or just don't care about... Even though I already have friends, it's a bit hard to make more friends my age when no one likes the same things I do, or when people are mean. I still keep up with social media, but I feel like everything is just so... I don't know, alienated? Dystopian? I can't quite put my finger on it... just really dull.

This site is really pleasant to look at; I’ve already poked around at various drawings and little games, and the people seem to be nice too. I hope I get the hang of it soon!
