Other Forums?

I've recently left social media and have been having fun using Melonland and the Pokemon Community fourms in place of them.

Places like these honestly feel a lot better, healthier, actually social and downright more fun then what i used to use. so ive been on the hunt looking for more fourms of things i like, but ive been having trouble finding many websites and fourms like that..

so i was just wondering what a good place to look for fourms is? how/where do you find fourms?

I totally agree with you btw. I feel like everytime I pick up my phone and use mainstream image boards that it sends me into a deep depression at just how mean people can be to eachother, and the same goes for mainstream forums like reddit. Going here is like an injection of positivity into my life. Before this place and neocities in general the internet felt a little bleak to me but now I realize that its all about where you go.

In regards to Melonland, there is also the EVIL FORUM but you will have to be patient for it as it is only open on Mondays for rebelious users who break all the rules and want to post to Melonland on Mondays. You can find it on the sitemap here. https://everyone.melonland.net/

Matter of fact, i actually really enjoy browsing through people's indie web pages on sites like neocities and nekoweb (plus some other site hosters/completely self hosters) admittedly i have been neglecting it recently... i should probably go do that again LMAO

found another forum that hasn't been mentioned yet, it's a touhou forum called Lunatic Red. a little inactive, but maybe it will appeal to some of you? :-) people seem to make pretty substantial posts there.

my second favorite forum (after this one of course  ) is a forum for the black phoenix alchemy lab (bpal) perfume company.

they've been running since 2004, which is almost as old as the company itself. it's a treasure trove of information about their products: reviews, selling and swapping (lots of people also sell non-bpal stuff), new releases, when products are about to be discontinued, decant circles, recommendations, and other stuff not limited to the company like games and general interest sections.

i seriously cannot recommend it enough if you are into bpal and indie perfumes in general. i don't post on there as frequently as i used to when i started buying from them, but i check it every few weeks!

I like to use the forum on Zelda Dungeon. It's really active, and lots of fun! And the main part of the website has guides to all the Legend of Zelda games

The forums I'm in are the Flipline Forum, Serene's Forest Forums, Fourth Place Forum, Agora Road's Macintosh Cafe, and the Drawception Forum.

In terms of forums, I rarely use such sites/features. Only one that comes to mind that I use regularly when the main site is on my radar is Furvilla. Sometimes I do use WindylnOnline but since it's 90% forums I don't play often... I only got it for the avatar customization.

Same could've been said for another site of similar functionality which is I believe Colours.me? Stopped using it because it just wasn't my cuppa and a lot of folks tend to be very "hostile" towards gamers in one part of the forums. I just don't usually do forums nowadays especially since I was young and got myself into heap mess on Neopets years ago... Wasn't the best at making friends in real life and even online it's moreso obvious on how bad my social skills can be. 

edit: Another post-edum addition, but I do use the ChickenSmoothie forums as well - but only the oekaki. Had a few drawings there posted but otherwise... I do feel the same as cynderthekitsune has expressed in feeling that maybe the forums might not be the best way to connect with others online.

But that could also be due to how greenhorned I am in the indie web ways and how much modern web has fuzzled up my way of thinking.

Plopping in to promote Furry corner! It had a lot of sign-ups when it was first created but the momentum fizzled out a bit. There's still active users but I would like more because I'm also bad at being active! It's furry focused obviously, and has a gallery feature just like melonland! C:

oh, i think i know what i can add 

sheepishpatio - very active forum about hobbies. it's kinda cozy. as i understand, they don't have a rule about "necroposting", so you can replie even to old threads.

retrogametalk - also very active forum about retro games. though in this case, "retro" means "before 2000", and most of the time it's about consoles. but! PC games discussions are there too. and more new-ish (before 2010) games are welcome too, like Morrowind or Oblivion. they have a rule about "necroposting" (which i don't really understand?), so you're free to create new threads.

Hmm the thing is that most forums are focused on a very particular subject; For example; Ice's link is for people interested in PC building; a friend of mine was obsessed with this one http://lanaboards.com its very active, but its only interesting if you are a major fan of LanaDelRay

People totally do hang out on them, but its only fun to hangout there if you are into the forums subject. There are not many general forums (even this one is not exactly a general forum).

i'm a co-owner of another forum actually - that being the the YellowTealPurple forums so i may be just a Tiiiny bit biased here l ol

it's a mostly general-ish creative-focused forum - it launched in november of 2024, but there's 600 members already.
there's all sorts of cool things.. a gallery section and a cool radio station featuring the musicians of the forum... come check it out!

For Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans there's Buffy-Boards! I've been spending a lot of time there recently. There's threads for Whedon's other works, but it's mostly BtVS.


I've been meaning to get on a Star Trek forum or two, but I haven't spent a lot of time looking.
